We board the Tilt Train for a relaxing ride along the scenic Queensland coast to the prosperous Harbour City of Gladstone. Lunch is provided to you today at your seat, so sit back and enjoy the scenery. You will arrive late afternoon where you will be greeted by your hostess & coach captain. Enjoy a brief 'city sights by night' tour of this lovely seaboard city with one of the busiest ports in Australia. Arrive and check-in at the Sundowner Motel Gladstone.

This morning we make our way out of Gladstone, through the once bustling gold mining village of Calliope and on to the agricultural and mineral rich Callide Valley. On reaching Biloela we take a scenic tour to a look-out which offers excellent views overlooking the operations of the Open Cut Callide Coal Mine.

5 Star Eco Accommodation

Enjoy morning tea and an informative tour of Greycliffe Homestead before touring The Silo. We move on through the broad-acre farming areas and the large coal mines around Moura (viewing some of the tragic memorials to lives lost) past the foothills of the Expedition and Shot-over Ranges to the majestic Carnarvon National Park for the next two nights, staying at the 5 Star Eco Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge.

Day 3 - Thursday (B, L, D)

Today we have organised a range of tours with different fitness levels for you to choose, to take in the natural wonders of Carnarvon Gorge. Offering an oasis feel, the Gorge's springs and creeks are surrounded by pockets of lush rainforest, ancient rock art galleries & abundant wildlife of birds, platypus and kangaroos. The main walking track is suitable for all fitness levels and criss-crosses the crystal clear waters of Carnarvon Creek. Overnight 5 star Eco Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge.

Leaving Carnarvon Gorge this morning we head north through some of the best cattle and farming country in the Central Highlands via Rolleston on the Comet River to the historical Rainworth Station (built as a fort in 1862) for a tour of The Fort, now a working Cattle Station. Leaving here we head through Springsure viewing the 'Virgin Mary Rock' and Mt. Zamia, heading for the Gemfields via the huge Lake Maraboon. At Rubyvale we will take a guided underground mine tour before fossicking for some beautiful gems. After a full day we move on to Clermont for an overnight stay at the 4 Star Peppercorn Motel.

Day 5 - Saturday (B, L, D)

Safari Cabin

This morning we are treated to a fascinating tour of the Blair Athol Open Cut Coal Mine (this is a real highlight and very interesting). We continue on through the coal mining towns of Blackwater and Bluff, past the northern tip of the Blackdown Tablelands, onto the little village of Dingo (home to the very rare Bridled Nail-tail Wallaby). We cross the Dawson River, into the Beef Capital of Australia, Rockhampton. Our last night together we stay at the 4 star Rydges Resort Capricorn Coast. We then have a grand finale night at the fun filled Footlights Theatre Restaurant. A fabulous and funny farewell tribute to this diverse and wonderful 7 day holiday.

Day 6 - Sunday (B, L, D)

Sleep in this morning and enjoy a leisurely hot buffet breakfast at your own pace. We depart mid-morning for Koorana Crocodile Farm, a commercial farm, home to over 3000 saltwater crocodiles. Enjoy a fascinating insight and tour of a commercial farm, not your everyday tourism theme park! After lunch we continue back to Koorawatha Homestead for some country hospitality.
