Day 1 - Tuesday (L, AT, D)
Tilt Train to Fraser Coast; Port Residence with
Mary Heritage
Migrating Whales
Board the Tilt Train departing Brisbane for the Fraser Coast. Enjoy your journey in complete comfort taking advantage of the on-board movie selection or tune in to a great range of music. When hunger bites, we have arranged to have your lunch served for you at your seat, so sit back relax and enjoy the ride! On arrival at Maryborough West Railway Station you are greeted by 'Mary Heritage', and taken on a short coach ride to Port Residence for afternoon tea with 'Mary' followed by the river walk to learn of the record floods. Arrive and check-in at the Carriers Arm Deluxe Motel
Day 2 - Wednesday (B, MT, L, D)
Mary Valley Rattler Train Journey; Hideaway
Hotel; Finale Dinner & Show
This morning we arrive at the beautifully restored
heritage Gympie Railway Station, built in 1913.
Here we board "C17" steam locomotive, No
802, that was built in England in 1927. Our
trip winds its way through the southern end
of Gympie and continues into the scenic Mary
Valley, crossing and then wandering away
from the Mary River. The countryside is very
picturesque undulating hills with an abundance
of curves, tunnels, gradients & bridges.
The hills and slopes show a patchwork of
macadamias, pineapples & other crops as well
as numerous dairy & beef herds grazing. The train then arrives at historic Kandanga Station
for a 30 minute stop, giving you the opportunity
to savour fresh local produce, local preserves,
cakes, slices etc. The train then continues to
Imbil where it terminates and we continue on
to the Hideaway Historic Hotel for BBQ lunch.
Return to Carriers mid afternoon.
Dinner tonight is our farewell FINALE! Join
Manuel the comic waiter before enjoying the
very different 'Buck Outback Show'! This will no
doubt be one meal not to be forgotten
Day 3 - Thursday (B, L, D)
Wildlife Coast Cruises 3/4 day Whale Watching
This morning we head for the gateway of Fraser Island to experience the Humpback Whales during their migration. Departing on the 'Kasey Lee' with Wildlife Coast Cruises, our day out includes morning tea and lunch and returns at 3.30pm. Features onboard include accredited commentary, experienced and friendly crew, and the vessel is equipped with a hydrophone to listen to the whale songs. Enjoy the playful antics of the Whale as they frolic in the clear blue oceans of the Fraser Coast.
Day 4 - Friday (B)
'Mary Heritage' Tour; Tilt Train Home
This morning we join 'Mary Heritage' dressed in fabulous period costume for a Maryborough Historic city sights tour, a great way to finish touring this magical region.
