1 Night Stay: Kortes Resort, Rockhampton
This morning we explore the unique Capricorn Caves for a 1-hour underground tour of Cathedral Cave. Follow your experienced guide into the brightly lit limestone cavern that contains rare ferns, massive tree roots, and some small bats. The high-domed Cathedral Cave is renowned for its acoustics and as a setting for special events. Near the finishing point of the tour, you can pass through the pioneer passage and walk across a suspended swinging bridge in the rain forest. This afternoon we arrive at our beachside accommodation in Yeppoon to unwind before dinner.
3 Night Stay: Ocean View Rooms at Salt, Yeppoon
**Please note: As accommodation is apartment style, there is no service to rooms during our stay.
Today we cruise through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the largest heritage listed area in the world. On arrival our cruise crew will advise times for our glass bottom boat venture for a coral viewing and fish feeding tour. The glass-bottom boat tour is a quiet, relaxed alternative for those wishing to view the wonders of the reef and spectacular marine life without even getting their feet wet. We then get some free time on the island, enjoying lunch overlooking the pristine waters off Great Keppel Island.
This morning we take a scenic drive along the Capricorn Coast showcasing 13 beautiful beaches. We stop at Emu Park to visit the Singing Ship, a monument that commemorates the area’s legacy of the historical explorations of Captain James Cook. We continue on to Koorana Crocodile Farm, home to over 3000 saltwater crocodiles. Enjoy a fascinating insight and tour of a commercial crocodile farm, not your everyday tourism theme park. Take a guided tour of the farm, where the excitement of seeing crocodile feeding is something you won’t match anywhere. We return to our hotel mid-afternoon to enjoy some free time downtown. Tonight, we get together for a dinner and show at Footlights Theatre Restaurant where we enjoy a top-class comedy variety show and three course dinner.
Departing Yeppoon, we make our way to Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo. Enjoy a delicious Devonshire morning tea followed by free time to browse these Heritage listed gardens.Discover more than 60 species of native and exotic animals; meet the newest member of the chimpanzee family, baby Capri who was born in February 2018, or stop by the Australian Wetlands zone to marvel over the giant saltwater crocodile ‘The Colonel’. Spot the colours of the rainbow in the aviaries, overload on cuteness in kangaroo country and watch the otters play like children in the water. We then board the coach continuing south to arrive at the town of Seventeen Seventy (formerly known as the Town of 1770 – the second landing site of James Cook). This picturesque seaside village is surrounded on three sides by the Coral Sea and Bustard Bay and is rich in history, wildlife and natural beauty. Unpack and relax by the pool at our accommodation, Lagoons 1770 Resort & Spa, before dinner.
2 Night Stay: Lagoons 1770 Resort & Spa
This morning we take the ideal getaway on the pink amphibious LARC. Take in the highlights of Agnes Water by land and sea onboard a unique LARC amphibious vehicle. Set out on a fullday adventure crossing tidal creeks, sandy beaches and 4WD drive trails, as you explore the Town of 1770 and Bustard Bay.
