This morning we join Mike Wells, a local garden personality, to discover Queens Park Botanic Gardens’ spectacular floral displays. We then continue on to a selection of exhibition and competition gardens with our expert guide. At Downs Steam Tourist Railway & Museum we take in lunch aboard a reconditioned railway car then investigate Downs Steam’s entry into the garden competition before taking a tour of the unique Dreamtime Coach Journey. Later we stroll through Ju Raku En Japanese Garden. This evening we enter the twilight zone and discover the world of Laurel Bank Park by night where our guide will unearth the darker side of plant life on a one-hour nocturnal tour.

Here we spend time with local guide, Craig Benjamin, who has exclusive rights to conduct tours of some of the most prestigious racing studs in the area. He takes us on an insider’s tour of the thoroughbred racing and equine industries. Later we journey further into the Hunter Wine region.

Making our way toward the capital we arrive at Tulip Top Gardens to explore the 10 acres of gardens which showcase magnificent tulips, spring flowers, blossoms and a magical cascading waterfall and watercourse. Next is Cockington Green Gardens and its fascinating display of meticulously crafted miniature buildings set within beautifully landscaped gardens. Our afternoon takes us to Canberra's iconic event, Floriade! With one million flowers in bloom throughout springtime, it is the biggest flower festival in Australia. We start our day at the Australian National Botanic Gardens with a knowledgeable guide, to appreciate the beauty of Australian plants and the research and effort involved in creating and maintaining the gardens. Next we take a drive-by tour of Canberra's International Embassies and High Commissions en-route to Parliament House. Here our tour gives us access to the Chambers and historic documents like Magna Carta. The unique blend of impressive architecture, a stunning art collection and beautiful landscape makes Parliament House one of Australia’s most significant and popular cultural attractions. At 2pm we visit the War Memorial, touring through the Hall of Memory, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Pool of Reflection and the Roll of Honour, finishing with a moving closing ceremony.

How much luggage can I take?

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

What do the fitness ratings mean?

Each of our tours has a fitness rating which describes the level of physical activity involved with the tour. These ratings are very important when choosing your tour to ensure it's right for you.  Our fitness ratings are:

  • 1 Easy
  • 2 Moderate
  • 3 Active/moderate
  • 4 Highly active
What is the average size of tour groups?

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests. Other tour types may have different capacities depending on the transport and destination. Please get in touch with our team if you have any questions about a specific tour.

Can you cater for my dietary requirements?

In most cases, yes we can. We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at time of booking, and we can confirm with our suppliers and restaurants.
