Today we discover the town of Bundaberg, starting with a visit to the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens. From here, take your time to explore Hinkler Hall of Aviation, an interactive museum that tells the story of the all-too-short life of Australian pioneer aviator Bert Hinkler. Become part of Bert’s story through glide and flight simulators, movie theatrettes, six display aircraft and a vintage motor vehicle. We take a short trip from Bundaberg, stopping along the way at the Hummock lookout, before continuing to the coast to enjoy lunch at the quaint Windmill Café. After lunch we make our way to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery for a guided tour. After you have spent some time exploring the museum, join a distillery guide on a journey deep into the heart of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Once you have experienced the sights and smells of the distillery, you will return to the Bundaberg Rum Tasting Bar, where you can sample some of the top shelf rums.

Today we take to the water in Australia’s humpback playground. Here the humpbacks are not just passing through on their way to their breeding grounds, they are actually taking time out in the pristine waters of Hervey Bay to socialise, have some fun, learn some essential life skills and nurture their young. Enjoy a 5-hour Whale Watch cruise and get up close and personal with these majestic creatures as they glide and play alongside the vessel. In addition to an incredible experience observing humpback whales in their natural environment, you'll enjoy a real time commentary about all local marine mammals (humpback whales, dolphins, dugongs, sharks, turtles and bird life) as well as some local history of K'gari (Fraser Island) and the tropical land owners, the Butchulla people.

We are off to Fraser Island – paradise! The island has rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, wallum and peat swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths. It is made up of sand that has been accumulating for approximately 750,000 years on volcanic bedrock that provides a natural catchment for the sediment which is carried on a strong offshore current northwards along the coast. Our guided tour will tell tales of the tribes that occupied the paradise of Fraser Island at least 5000 years ago. As we discover the world’s largest sand island, our off-road adventure takes us tackling inland bumps and humps through towering Satinay trees, followed by a boardwalk through majestic beauty of nature as rainforests and rare plant life surround the area. We unearth shipwrecks and sheltered bays and take plenty of time to stop and enjoy the view. Climb Indian Head and gaze down upon schools of fish, sharks, dolphins, rays and turtles, enjoying their own sea safari. We also stop off at picturesque Lake McKenzie taking time here for a swim in the water which shines sapphire blue, surrounded with shores of snow-white sand. Late afternoon, we board the ferry back to the mainland and return to the hotel for dinner.

**Please note: 4WD tour is not suitable for passengers with back and/or neck injury due to certain parts of the track being rugged and jerky.
