This package is subject to an additional levy for coach/air/rail component that may be imposed and is out of Fun Over Fifty’s control. Flights are arranged to suit the tour as a group in advance, therefore we cannot book individual preferences or guarantee direct flights.
We fly into Hobart on Carbon Neutral flights, arriving mid afternoon, and make our way to our hotel for next four nights. Tonight we dine out dine out, enjoying the vibrant maritime atmosphere and freshest Tasmanian seafood at the iconic Drunken Admiral.
Discover everything that makes Bruny Island amazing as we embark on a sightseeing and food tour. Enjoy a gourmet experience and taste local fresh produce, spot wildlife in their habitat, walk the beaches, climb The Truganini lookout and tour the iconic Cape Bruny Lighthouse, perched above the stunning craggy Tasmanian coastline.
Merry Christmas! After a festive breakfast together, the morning is yours to relax and enjoy the facilities of our hotel or take a stroll along the waterfront. The highlight today is gathering for our Christmas Day lunch with all the trimmings. Enjoy a long sumptuous lunch with fresh Tassie delicacies, traditional fare and included beverages as we celebrate with friends old and new. Take the afternoon at leisure or join your crew for a friendly game or two. A light dinner will be provided tonight at our hotel.
Today we travel via Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen to visit Port Arthur Historic Site, part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Australian Convict Sites. Embark on a guided walking tour of this former seaside penal colony, where we explore more than 30 restored buildings and ruins. We then set off on a 30-minute cruise on Carnarvon Bay to admire the natural beauty of this sombre site. We reboard our coach and travel back to Hobart via Eaglehawk Neck.
Leaving Hobart, we trace the Derwent Valley to Russell Falls, known for its tiered cascade. Next, we explore ‘The Wall in the Wilderness’, an ongoing artistic project depicting Central Highlands history. In the afternoon, we journey west, visiting Nelson Waterfalls and viewing the Iron Blow copper mine and Queenstown before reaching Strahan.
We board the coach for Queenstown, stepping back in time aboard the fully restored heritage carriages of the West Coast Wilderness Railway. We journey into the history of the wild west coast with our guide bringing stories of the railway and its resilient people to life. Enjoy lunch on board before our rail journey concludes, and return to Strahan for the afternoon.
Soak up the serene beauty of western Tasmania and relax in reserved premium seating as we cruise the mighty Gordon River. We pass natural landmarks like Hells Gates, which marks the entrance to Macquarie Harbour from the Southern Ocean. We disembark and visit Sarah Island, a former convict settlement and shipyard. Enjoy a smorgasbord lunch on board as we journey through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage area before we continue on to Cradle Mountain. Tonight, will be an unforgettable experience when we join Devils At Cradle on the after dark feeding tour. Encounter a rare up-close opportunity of seeing Tasmanian devils feeding – quite a spectacular sight.
This morning we join an on-coach guided tour through the myrtles and King Billy pines at Cradle Valley to Gustav Weindorfer’s Chalet. Here we gain an insight into the early history of the Cradle Mountain area and the people who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the National Park. We make our way to Hellyers Road Distillery for lunch before heading to visit the enriching Highfield Historic House. We immerse ourselves in a scenic ride on the Nut Chairlift offering breathtaking views before checking in for an overnight stay.
Our travels today take us along the picturesque north coast of Tasmania via Penguin, Ulverstone and Devonport with a quick stop at the House of Anvers before arriving in Sheffield, a town with over 100 murals that depict local history and characters. Next we enjoy lunch in the beautiful Meander Valley at Villarett Gardens, home to 4 hectares of unique modern formal gardens. After lunch, travel via Deloraine before arriving at Launceston’s Cataract Gorge, where we take a ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift, enjoying spectacular views of this unique piece of urban wilderness. Tonight we enjoy New Year’s Eve celebrations together and ring in 2025!
Happy New Year! Today we travel to Beauty Point stopping at Brady’s Lookout and Beaconsfield. Here we are given the choice of visiting the only Seahorse farm in the world or Platypus House. We then travel to East Tamar via the unique A-frame Batman Bridge. We break for lunch before travelling on to Legerwood to view the tree carvings - an amazing avenue of memorial tree carvings that are a lasting tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in WWI.
After a leisurely breakfast this morning we make our way to Launceston airport for our respective Carbon Neutral flights home.

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests.
